COMPUMAG 2013 in Budapest

I am involved in the contributions on “Second Moment Perturbation Analysis of the Nonlinear Eddy Current Model with Material Uncertainties” (presented by Ulrich Römer), “Using AMG to Accelerate Finite Differences by GPUs in Electromagnetic/Thermal Field Simulations” (Christian Richter), “Influence of Measurement Errors on Transformer Inrush Currents Using Different Material Models” (Timo Hülsmann) and “Linear Subspace Reduction for Magneto-Quasistatic Field Simulations” (Markus Clemens), see the previous posts on Presentations and the best student papers grants for Christian Richter and Timo Hülsmann.

Invited Talk at OctConf 2013 on Coupled Simulations (UPDATE)

Next week I will attend OctConf 2013. From the official announcement: “Following the success of OctConf 2012 which brought together users and developers for five days in July in the French Canadian summer, the first european OctConf will be held in Milan, Italy on June 24-26 2013”. I will give an invited talk on “Niobe – an Octave/Matlab Based Environment for Coupled Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Field Simulations in Teaching and Research”, co-author is Herbert De Gersem (with contributions from A. Bartel, M. Clemens, M. Günther, C. Kaufmann, J. ter Maten and D. Schmidthäusler). You can find the slides here.

UPDATE 2: At OctConf 2013 were several presentation given from Google Summer of Code students, for example one deals with new incomplete factorizations for preconditioning (by Kai Torben Ohlhus) and another one is concerned with a general purpose PDE package (Gedeone). Stay tuned!

EMF 2013: Field-Circuit Coupling and Winding Functions

EMF2013Next week I will attend the 9th International Symposium on Electric and Magnetic Fields, EMF 2013. It will be held in Bruges, Belgium, from 23 to 25 April 2013. According to the organizers “the purpose of the Symposium is to throw a bridge between recent research advances in mathematical and numerical modelling of electromagnetic fields and the growing number of industrial problems requiring such techniques”. I will talk on tuesday April 23, 2013 in the session 3 on numerical techniques (16.00 – 18.00 hrs) on “Field-Circuit Coupling Approaches in Terms of Winding Functions“.

GAMM 2013

Next week the 84th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, GAMM) will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia. I will a giva a talk in the Young Researchers’ Minisymposium “Scale-bridging modeling and simulation – methodological and computational aspects” organized by Felix Fritzen.

Please note that for the first time at a GAMM conference, we have organized a poster exhibition on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 15:00 — 16:30 at the University of Novi Sad.
